Experiment with colors, shapes, and heights to make your picking bouquet as unique and natural as possible. It’s a great way to cheer yourself up, or bring some joy to someone else’s day!
Try something different
If your flower style is wild and lush, a picking garden with summer bulbs is just the thing for you! In a picking bouquet, flowers are not lined up neatly. On the contrary: they playfully point in all directions – just like in the wild in nature. Make sure to let some flowers poke out higher, for example the dashing Persian imperial crown (Fritillaria persica).
Celebrate spring!
Using seasonal flowers will make your picking bouquet look even more natural. You could celebrate spring, for example, with a bouquet of tulips, grape hyacinths, and a blossom branch. When we are heading towards summer, you can add more and more summer flowers, such as Calla (Zantedeschia). This chalice-shaped flower makes for a real eye-catcher in your picking bouquet.
There’s no such thing as over the top
In picking bouquets, you can combine as many colors as you like. There’s no such thing as over the top! If you prefer a ‘Zen’ appearance, choose flowers in a minimalist color palette, such as a mix of white tulips and grape hyacinths. A simple vase (made of glass or ceramic) will show off your picking bouquet beautifully. Nevertheless, sometimes it is still fun to choose a vase that enhances the playful effect of your picking bouquet. You could choose, for example, a vase that is decorated with flowers or butterflies.

- Use your favorite flower from your picking bouquet in other places in your interior. For example, put a vase with a single flower in your home office or by your bed.
- Don’t put your flowers next to the fruit bowl. Ripening fruit emits ethylene, an ageing substance that speeds up wilting. After all, you want to be able to enjoy your flowers for a long time!
