Long-lasting lilies
Warm summer days fast approaching? That won’t be a problem for your bouquet of lilies. These flowers are famously long-lasting, so you can enjoy them even when the temperatures soar! Have you already bought a bouquet of lilies?
The lily (Lilium) is a reliable and colorful bulb flower that can always be enjoyed to the full, even on hot summer days. They are beautiful in bouquets, standing alone in a vase, or as part of a floral arrangement. These 5 care tips will help ensure that you can enjoy them for as long as possible!
- Buy lilies that look fresh and vibrant, with flower buds that are not yet fully open. They will then last a long time.
- Fill a clean vase with clean water and add a little cut flower food to extend their life. The beautiful color of the flowers will also last longer.
- Trim about 1 inch off the stems using a clean, sharp knife. To keep the water clean and clear for longer, also remove the lower leaves so that they do not end up in the vase water.
- Do not put the vase with flowers in direct sunlight, near the heating, or next to the fruit bowl (ripening fruit emits ethylene, a gas that causes flowers to wilt prematurely).
- Change the vase water every few days, especially in warm weather. Enjoy the floral splendor!
Indoors and outdoors
Feel free to bring a bouquet of lilies into your home on warm summer days. These beautiful, hardy flowers are perfect for adding a splash of color to your interior. If you spend a lot of time outside on hot summer days, put your bouquet in a shady spot on the garden table. Lilies are also an ideal gift to bring to a garden party!
Tip! Put your lilies in a glass vase to make it easier to keep an eye on the water. You can then see at a glance whether you need to top it up or change it!
